A guide for adults to keep children safe
Seen, Safe and Heard is a collaborative initiative exploring what safety looks and feels like from a child’s perspective. Led by Communities for Children Kwinana (The Smith Family) and delivered in partnership with KEYS, the Institute of Indigenous Wellbeing and Sport, the City of Kwinana, YouthCARE, local schools and community partners, the project placed children at the centre of the process. Rather than simply seeking their feedback, children were engaged as contributors and co-designers, helping shape the project’s priorities, direction and resources.
Guided by a multi-agency Steering Group, the project brought together children from across Kwinana through workshops, community activities and co-design sessions. Their experiences and ideas helped build a shared understanding of what helps children feel seen, safe and supported, while creating meaningful opportunities for adults to listen, reflect and respond.
This page brings together the resources and learnings developed through the project to support organisations, practitioners, families and communities to meaningfully engage with children and respond to what they tell us.
