Our parenting workshops are the core of what we do at KEYS. They’re carefully curated to be practical, informal, engaging and cover the challenging aspects of parenthood. A free interpreter service is available with prior arrangement.

Bringing Up Great Kids
For parents/carers of children 2-10 years
(3 hours x 4 weeks)
Learn about children's brain development, the meaning of their behaviours and how to support your child's emotional regulation and development.

A mindful and respectful program which provides the opportunity to reflect on your parenting approach, in order to feel more confident in being the parent you want to be.

Children's Emotional Wellbeing

For parents/carers of children 0-17 years
(2.5 hours x 3 weeks)

Part 1: Raising Resilient Kids - Strategies for equipping children with the skills needed to adapt, cope, and grow through change, stress, uncertainty, and adversity.
Part 2: Understanding & Managing Anxiety - Understanding the difference between Anxiety and feeling anxious, how to support children through anxious times, and how to know and where to go when further help is needed.
Part 3: Sensory Processing - Exploring and understanding Sensory Preferences and Sensory Processing Dysregulation, the link with anxiety, and some basic strategies for supporting your child to organise Sensory Input.
Protective Behaviours Parenting
For parents/carers of children 0-18 years
(2.5 hours x 3 weeks)

The Protective Behaviours program is a proactive approach to providing children, teens and vulnerable people with the skills and strategies to recognise when they are feeling unsafe, and to know where to go for help.

Delivered in a safe format, this program is designed to leave parents feeling positive about equipping their children with positive life skills such as assertiveness, emotional literacy, resilience, and problem solving. These skills assist children to better cope with anxiety and know when to take risks, where to go for help and how to speak up against peer pressure, bullying and abuse.

Language and Culture for Growing Strong Children

For parents/carers who speak a language other than English or come from a different culture.
(2 hour session)

Children grow strong when they feel proud and connected to their culture. Learn practical ways to help your child feel confident, ready to learn, and to thrive. Build belonging, support bilingualism, nurture strengths, and create a positive sense of self.

Connecting With Your Teen

For parents/carers of children 11-17 years
(2 hour session)

For parents of adolescents/teens. During this period of change and growth, we want our kids to grow into independence, make wise choices, and know that they can come to us whenever needed.

This 2 - hour introductory workshop focuses on strengthening your connection with your teen utilising strategies from the Circle of Security and Parenting by Connection Programs, for listening and responding to your teen, supporting them through difficult times, helping them to solve problems and setting boundaries.

Circle of Security

For parents/carers of children 0-17 years
(2 hours x 8 weeks)

Imagine what it might feel like if you were able to make sense of what your child was really asking from you. Circle of Security focuses on the child/parent relationship and how to create a secure attachment.

Our trained Facilitators work with parents and care givers to help them:
- Understand their child’s emotional world by learning to read their emotional needs
- Support their child’s ability to successfully manage emotions
- Enhance the development of their child's self esteem

1-2-3 Magic and Emotion Coaching

For parents/carers of children 3-10 years
(2 hours x 4 weeks)

1-2-3 Magic & Emotion Coaching is a parenting program which gives parents and caregivers a simple and effective approach to guiding and teaching behaviour and life skills in children aged from 3 - 10 years.

This program provides parents with the knowledge and practical skills to set limits confidently and calmly, and to help their child manage big emotions when faced with boundaries and limits. Learn strategies to help your child move from what not to do, to what to do instead, gaining independence and a better self-esteem. This program is particularly helpful for parents of children who are neurodivergent.
Engaging Adolescents
For parents/carers of children 5-17 years
(2 hours x 4 weeks)

The Engaging Adolescents parenting program is designed to give parents a better understanding into the mind of their teen/preteen.

Provides strategies to help parents support and guide their teen into adulthood in a positive way, resolve conflict, set reasonable boundaries, and a method for preparing for and holding tough conversations.

Understanding and Managing Children's Anxiety

For parents/carers of children 0-17 years
(2.5 hour Session)

Understanding the difference between Anxiety and Feeling Anxious, how to support children and teens through anxious times, how to know when it's time to seek further support, and where to go.

It is recommended that parents/carers complete the Raising Resilient Kids session prior to this one.
Sensory Kids
For parents/carers of children 0-17 years
(2.5 hour session)

While we all have our sensory preferences, some children can experience difficulty in organising and responding to sensory input, which can lead to learning difficulties, anxiety and stress, and impact on their health and wellbeing.

This session is designed to inform parents as to how they can best support their children to organise sensory input, how it can affect children who have difficulties, basic strategies and coping mechanisms for parents, when to seek further support and correct referral pathways for support and therapy if required.

Take A Stand on Bullying
For parents/carers of children 5-17 years
(2 hour session)

Take a Stand on Bullying is a parenting workshop specifically designed for parents of school aged children (aged 5 – 17).

This introductory workshop identifies bullying behaviours and offers a range of strategies for parents to emotionally support and advocate for their child whether the child is experiencing or exhibiting bullying behaviours.

Starting Strong - High School

For parents/carers of pre-teens starting High School
(2.5 hour session)

Learn strategies to support your pre-teen to managing the anxiety and overwhelm of significant changes to their education and social life, which comes at a time where their bodies are also experiencing immense changes.

Help them identify their strengths and use these to develop the skills needed for a strong and successful start to high school.
Starting Strong - Kindy and Pre-School
For parents/carers of children starting Kindy or Pre-School
(2.5 hour session)

Learn strategies to support your child to manage big feelings around change, separation, and anxiety associated with starting school.

Equip your child with the skills to be assertive, confident, make new friends, problem solving skills, and how to find the right people to ask for help if needed. Also helpful for supporting preschool aged children, particularly if they have not attended Kindy in a school setting.

Safe Play

For parents/carers of children 0-17 years
(2 hour session)

It can be difficult for parents and caregivers to know how to respond to children's curiosity around sexual development.

This information session provides a basic overview of how to respond to children's questions and behaviours in an age appropriate way, which behaviours need to be monitored more closely and which behaviours are a cause for concern. Utilising strategies from the Protective Behaviours framework we will also discuss appropriate responses to each.
